2020 Back-To-School Checklist for Kids and Parents

Back-To-School Checklist

Covid-19 is here to stay until the day its vaccines will be out. No one is sure when these vaccines will be available, but life has to continue. All that everyone needs is to keep safe by observing all the measures given by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Students have to continue with their studies despite the ongoing Covid-19 risks. Governments from all over the world are implementing new measures to make schools safe for students, but not the breeding grounds of the deadly virus.

As schools continue to do all that they can to reduce the risk of spreading the virus, students and parents also have a role to play. As you prepare your child to go back to school this September, your back-to-school needs to have accessories that will keep your child safe while at school. Here are some of the safety accessories that students need as they get back to school.

1. Hand sanitizers

As a learning resume, classes are likely to be stocked with hand sanitizers. Teachers will also be encouraging students to wash their hands regularly with soap and water. Hand sanitizers are the best option when there is no water tap available.

As you prepare your child to go back to school, make sure you are providing him or her with a portable hand sanitizer. Look for a kid-friendly hand sanitizer that has been approved by the FDA.  Dr. Candice W. Jones, a board-certified pediatrician, recommends that each kid should have a 60 percent or higher alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

2. Mask

Back-To-School Checklist

Face masks are a new supply in many people's back-to-school shopping lists this year. As schools open, students are required to be always having their face masks on even while in classrooms.

The goal is to reduce the spread of the virus. These face coverings can help keep your child safe while at school. Parents should make sure that their kids have enough face coverings as they get back to school. You can buy washable designer face masks for your child, but first, check with the school to know the specific type of face masks they are accepting.

3. Laptop

In attempts to reduce the spread of the virus, students may be getting some of their classes online. Your child needs a laptop for this. Some schools are now starting to offer online learning.

To cope with this, you should get your child a laptop that is internet enabled. Your child will need a reliable internet connection. If you don't have a cable internet connection at your home, this is the time to apply for it.

4. Headphones

Virtual classes require students to be in an enabling study environment. Unfortunately, there is some background noise at our homes that is difficult to get rid of. Providing your child with a headphone when he or she is learning online will make it easier for him or her to listen to the teacher. For better results, you should look for a wireless headphone.

5. Computer protection eyeglasses

Now that your child will be attending most classes online. He or she will be spending a lot of time staring at the desktop or laptop screen. That is not good for the eyes. Spending too many hours in front of a computer has detrimental effects on eye health.

Apart from computer protection eyeglasses, parents should also make sure that their children have sunglasses. They help reduce the exposure of eyes to the harmful UV rays. Encouraging your child to put on sunglasses every time he or she is out in the sun can help keep his or her eyes safe. The best sunglasses for students are Benedict aviators by Oliver Peoples.

6. Infrared thermometer

It is impossible to always have your child tested for Covid-19 every day. Checking for the well-known symptoms of the coronavirus disease can help you know whether your child is sick or not. An infrared thermometer is all that you need so that you can be checking your child's temperature regularly. Not all fever is a sign of the coronavirus disease, but it is worth getting your child tested every time he or she develops a fever. 7

7. Antimicrobial phone cases

Back-To-School Checklist

Does your child have a cell phone? Recent studies by the University of Arizona are showing that phones carry ten times more bacteria than a toilet seat. Phones can also carry the coronavirus and increase its spread. To prevent that, parents should equip students with antimicrobial phone cases. These cases are infused with antimicrobial technology that kills bacteria that come into contact with them. You should look for the polycarbonate and rubber smartphone cases to protect your child's phone during the inevitable drops.
