A Man's Guide to Whiter Teeth

A confident smile goes a long way, as nothing compares to having a set of pearly white teeth. Confident men smile a lot, knowing their white teeth will conquer everyone around.

A white smile is a great asset during a date, an interview or a business meeting, as it can bring you a lot of benefits. Healthy, white teeth also mean healthy relationship, as people are always eager to spend their time with someone beautiful, inside-out.

A smile is always contagious, so learn how to care for your smile and have whiter teeth.

Whitening toothpaste

The easiest way to achieve whiter teeth is to brush with a special, whitening toothpaste.

According to oral health specialist, whitening toothpaste has bleaching components which can remove surface stains and prevent new stains from forming. However, whitening toothpaste is not an instant solution – you need to continue using the toothpaste twice a day, daily, in order to see the results.

Make sure you don't overdo it and use the toothpaste more than 3 times a day, as this can damage your teeth enamel. As you continue to use the whitening toothpaste you can eat and drink foods that stain, such as wine and coffee.

White strips

White strips can make your teeth two shades whiter. They work by opening up the surface of your teeth to allow the bleaching components to reach your teeth.

White strips usually contain hydrogen peroxide and are more effective than whitening toothpaste. However, you need to avoid eating and drinking foods that stain, like coffee, wine or chocolate after you've used the strips.

Dentists advise on waiting for up to 40 minutes after using the white strips before you eat or drink anything.

Use a whitening mouth rinse before brushing

Most whitening mouth rinses contain hydroxide peroxide, so you can rinse and gargle for one minute before brushing in order to achieve whiter teeth.

The problem with this method is that it's hard to see significant results because the amount of bleaching agent is minimal and the using time is also very limited.

However, if you only need to remove surface stains or you want to whiten your teeth one shade, this method is the easier to use.

Chew whitening gum

Whitening gum is another easy way to whiten your teeth one shade or remove surface stains. Whitening gums contain sodium hexametaphosphate, which removes stains and prevents them from forming in the future.

Chewing gum also contains abrasive agents, which prevent plaque from sticking to your teeth after chewing gum.

Professional bleaching

If none of these methods appeals to you, you can seek a dentist's attention. A dentist is able to perform a professional bleaching treatment under safe conditions.

On top of this, a dentist is going to check the state of your teeth before performing the bleaching treatment, which is a huge benefit, as bleaching agents cause pain if you have cavities.

After having your teeth professionally bleached, the dentist is going to advise on what to do afterwards in order to maintain your teeth in top shape.
